Small leak idles Unit One

Trouble at Oconee Nuclear Station. We spoke to B-J Gatten at Duke’s World of Energy. “Over the weekend, operators at Oconee received indications about a small leak inside the Unit One containment building. The containment building is one of the most robust structures on the site….The small leak that they noticed was only about one-tenth of a gallon per minute,” Gatten told 96.3/WGOG NEWS. She said the unit was taken off line yesterday, and workers are trying to find out now the cause of the leak and make repairs. No threat to employees or the public, Gatten said.
