Smith and Grant–will they stay or go?

At the top of the agenda for Westminster City Council are the appointments of two representatives to the Oconee Joint Regional Sewer Authority.  The seats are now held by Tally Grant and Rhett Smith, both of whom are described as wishing to step down.  But, at least in the case of Smith, Mayor Brian Ramey is hopeful for a change-of-heart.  Ramey tells 101.7/WGOG NEWS, “We (he and Smith) will talk Monday and decide.  He (Smith) is very valuable to us on that commission and I would hate to lose him.”  There’s talk that if Smith goes through with his wish to step down, the city council will name its new administrator, Chris Carter, in Smith’s place.
