Smoke detectors save lives

At one point during the weekend, six people had perished in South Carolina structure fires. Oconee’s fire chief, Charlie King, says it is a reminder that the most critical device in every home and business to ensure safety is a working smoke detector. The Oconee Fire Service is committed to ensuring that every home has a working detector by offering detectors at no cost. Fire fighters will come to your home to install the units and help your family develop an escape plan should a fire occur. To obtain a smoke detector for your home, or have fire fighters create a personalized escape plan for your home, call 638-4220.
