So far, evidence shows no foul play

September 16, 2013

Shortly after Walhalla Fire Department released from the Presbyterian Church fire scene, Chief Doug Kelley said there’s no evidence of any foul play associated with Saturday’s fire that destroyed the church roof and caused heavy damage to the sanctuary below. Origin of the fire is believed to be the room containing the church sound speakers. But Kelley says there’s still more investigation before a ruling can be issued. By yesterday morning, it was still difficult to determine the extent of what was lost. Fire fighters were able to save some church possessions, and Kelley says it’s possible the church organ can be salvaged. He was not sure about the church pews.
