So far, no money for a Kellett re-make

Seneca leaders set in motion last night new budgets to cover income and spending for the next year, but the new budgets include no money toward a plan to find an alternate use for a 12-acre former school property.  And that was somewhat of a sore point between a neighborhood representative and the mayor.  City plans last year to build a utility complex there were scrapped when those who live in Adams subdivision area objected.  Since then, a task force of city representatives and neighbors sought to find alternative uses.  But the momentum created by the task force has slowed down.  Last night Dr. Grant Cunningham, a representative of the neighborhood group and a ClemsonUniversity planning instructor, renewed his offer to commission a paid study by graduate students. But Mayor Dan Alexander said money for a study was not included in the city’s new budgets because no one ever came to him with a specific dollar request.  As a way to move the matter forward, Councilman Dana Moore succeeded in directing the mayor, the mayor pro-tem and Cunningham to meet and return with a recommendation to the city council.
