“Socktober” drive smashes goal

sms-canned_food_0028Around one-half of the students at Seneca Middle School qualify for free or reduced priced meals.  It’s a big reason the student body is motivated to give to the less fortunate during the holidays.  The “Socktober” drive at the school shattered its goal in collecting socks and toiletry items for the homeless shelter “Our Daily Rest.”  The drive collected more than 2,300 items.  The students followed that with a food drive that netted more than 2,700 items of non-perishable food for the soup kitchen Our Daily Bread.
