Solving the sewer needs of I-85 and Fair Play

Oconee has finished a 13-mile sewer line between the county’s treatment plant at Seneca and its Golden Corner Commerce Park at Fair Play. But Richard Blackwell says if it were to be even more ambitious, it could solve all other Fair Play and nearby I-85 sewer needs with $11.8 million. That’s the estimate for connecting the heart of Fair Play and exits 1, 2 and 4 on the interstate. Blackwell, the director of Oconee Economic Alliance, made a pitch today to a county committee to consider, at the least. $2.8 million dollars for the first phase of the work which, as he put it, would connect sewer from Fair Play and I-85 to GCCP. The county’s Capital Project Advisory Committee will score Blackwell’s request and consider a recommendation to the county Planning Commission.
