Something special to be mailed

For the Oconee taxpayer, there’s something special to anticipate in the mail or, perhaps, dread.  The county tomorrow will mail more than 75 thousand property tax bills—the taxes to be paid are to run the county and school governments another year.  Auditor Ken Nix said this morning that if all bills are paid on time, the county treasury will take in excess of $112 million dollars.  Most taxpayers won’t see any change in what they owe.  The exceptions are if there has been an increase in property values and if you are a taxpayer in West Union and Westminster.  Those two municipalities raised their tax rates this year.
