South Carolina & Clemson meet on gridiron this weekend

The South Carolina football team slipped in the national polls released on Sunday.  The Gamecocks (9-2, 6-2 SEC) fell from ninth to 12th in the BCS Standings, from 12th to 13th in the Associated Press poll and from 11th to 12th in the USA TODAY/ESPN Coaches polls, all released Sunday. The Gamecocks are coming off a 24-7 win over Wofford on Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia.  The Gamecocks will travel to Clemson (10-1, 7-1 ACC) on Saturday to wrap up their regular season with the annual Palmetto State Showdown. Clemson moved up to ninth in USA Today and 12th in AP, and 11th in the BCS following Saturday’s win over North Carolina State.  This will be the sixth time both the Gamecocks and Tigers have entered the rivalry game ranked in the top 25. South Carolina has a 3-2 lead in games in the previous five games.  This is the second time in history both teams enter the game ranked in the top 15. The only other time was in 1987 in Columbia when Clemson was eighth in both polls and South Carolina was 12th. South Carolina won that contest 20-7. This year’s game kicks off Saturday night at 7:00 PM at Memorial Stadium.
