South Carolina’s early voting is absentee

Unlike some states, South Carolina does not offer early voting. But there is a way to beat the rush on Election Day. If you qualify, you can vote absentee. Some of the common qualifications to vote absentee are persons 65 and older, physically disabled persons, and those who plan to be on vacation on Election Day. The state Election Commission reminds voters of the fast-approaching absentee deadline. In person, visit your county voter registration office, complete an application, and cast your ballot. You may vote absentee in person up until 5 p-m Monday, November 3. At this late date, voting absentee by mail should be done only if necessary. In the 2010 General Election, votes cast by South Carolinian absentee voters represented 11% of the total number of votes cast in that election.
