South Carolinians hit the road for the holiday

The motor club AAA predicts more than one-half million South Carolinians will drive to their destination this Thanksgiving weekend. A total of 630 thousand state residents are expected to travel 50 miles or more from home, most of them travelers. Because of its five-day length, Thanksgiving is one of the most dangerous annual holidays. Last year 13 people were killed in South Carolina highway crashes. The State Transport Police, the South Carolina Trucking Association, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are offering safety breaks at three rest stops across the state.
