Southern Connector turns purple to fight cancer

It may cost more next year to drive the Southern Connector at Greenville, but part of what the driver pays next month will go to the fight against cancer.  Toll charges to use the road are increasing, but also in January the toll booths on Interstate-185, the Southern Connector, turn purple to support the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.  Beginning January 5, toll booths and the collectors will be decked in purple each Tuesday through January 26.  Purple lights will color the plazas during the month.  Ten cents from each toll collected will be donated to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.  The effort recognizes members of  the connector’s staff who are cancer survivors and the late Thomas Warwick, the company founder, who died from cancer.
