Spay/neuter fund depleted

The fund that Oconee Humane Society taps for the spay and neutering of animals has run out of money, and its officials appealed last night to County Council for more money. Humane Society believes the efforts have reduced the number of stray animals across the county, but its $60 thousand appropriation program was used up in December. The county is about to launch into a new budget process, and Councilman Joel Thrift says the timing of the request could not be worse.
