Special Election UPDATE

May 16, 2014

Oconee Elections Office awaits contact this afternoon from the county Republican Party with word that the party has officially accepted Andy Inabinet’s request to withdraw from Tuesday’s special election. At this point, it appears there will be an election Tuesday. According to Joy Brooks, elections director, once the Inabinet withdrawal is official, Paul Cain will be free to actively campaign for write-in votes. Votes cast Tuesday for Inabinet won’t count, Brooks says, but voters would be free to cast write-ins for Cain or for any other District Three resident.
