Special exception OK’d

Oconee tonight is on the way to getting a new jail. The Walhalla Board of Zoning Appeals voted to grant the county a special exception that’ll allow the new jail to be built on the cemetery side of the current penal facility. The vote was 5-1-1. And afterward Sheriff Mike Crenshaw said he’s confident that he can meet an apparent permit requirement to have the project under construction within six months.
