Special exception sought tonight

The developer for a proposed new Dollar General store in Oconee County has new plans.  And those plans are to be aired during a public hearing tonight in Walhalla.  A county official says the application for a pair of special exceptions this time proposes an alternate location—-on Ebenezer Road next to Yupper’s store and restaurant.  Late last year the county Board of Zoning Appeals denied a Woodruff-based development company the special exception that it needed to build a 9,100 square foot Dollar General at the nearby intersection of Ebenezer Road and SC 188/the Keowee School Road.  The same board is to hear a request for variance at the new, alternate location at 6 o’clock tonite in Oconee County Council Chambers.  The property falls inside a lake overlay district and is zoned traditional rural.
