Special Walhalla election

The death last week of a Walhalla city councilwoman will require a special election the third week of November. Joy Scharich, director of Oconee registration and elections, has announced that Walhalla voters will be asked to go to the polls Tuesday, November 18 to fill the unexpired term of the late Kathy Rogers. At the time of her death, Rogers was serving a four-year term as a city councilwoman which runs thru 2017. Those Walhallans interested in qualifying as candidates may sign up at the county elections office between noon Friday, September 12 and noon Monday, September 22.
