Star prospect sidelined; Dawgs will be without full receiving corps Saturday

*The Palmetto State’s top-rated high school football star for the recruiting class of 2015 will miss the remainder of his senior season. Defensive end Shameik Blackshear of Bluffton High School, who has already committed to play college ball at South Carolina, is out for the season after an MRI of his injured knee revealed a torn ACL, according to sources. Blackshear will need surgery. He was injure in a non-contact play during the Bulldogs week 1 game at Effingham County, GA.

*The Georgia Bulldogs could be without a couple of key receivers when they face South Carolina in Columbia this Saturday afternoon. Malcolm Mitchell and Justin Scott-Wesley are listed as doubtful with previous ACL injuries, while Jonathan Rumph is out due to a hamstring injury. The Gamecocks and Bulldogs take to Williams-Brice Stadium at 3:30 PM Saturday in a nationally televised contest. South Carolina has outscored Georgia 53-13 in the Dawgs previous two trips to Columbia. Georgia features Heisman hopeful Todd Gurley, who’ll likely see an increased load Saturday thanks to UGA’s depletion at receiver.
