State Park attracts autumn’s visitors

So many visitors flock to the Oconee State Park in the fall that the park superintendent can’t tell July from October, as far as the numbers of those who camp, fish, and enjoy other forms of recreation. And Joanna White, the park superintendent, says she and her staff are getting ready for an increase in park users for the last weekend before Halloween Day. A popular activity is the enjoyment of foliage. The trees at the park, off 107, have turned colors—way ahead of the trees of the lower elevations. And White expects the peak for fall colors at her park to be within the next week and a half.
