State park to be packed for the holiday weekend

The getaway place in upper Oconee to which U-S senators in days of old used to retreat to escape the heat of South Carolina’s low country will be at or near full capacity this holiday weekend. For a variety of reasons this Memorial Day weekend, Joanna White says, Oconee State Park at Mountain Rest will see full use of its cabins, camp sites and other facilities. White, the park superintendent, says a large crowd is expected also for the start of square dances, an Oconee State Park fixture since the Second World War.
