State rests in Senecan’s murder trial in Florida

The State of Florida has rested in its case against a young Seneca man charged in the shooting death in 2012 of a man at a hotel along Florida’s Gulf coast. A reporter covering the trial of defendant Michael Rice for the North Port Sun, Drew Winchester, told 96.3/WGOG NEWS this morning that the defense this afternoon will begin calling mental health experts. Rice’s attorney claims his client suffered temporary insanity when Philippe Nahon was shot at what’s described as a boutique hotel in the small Florida town of Osprey. Rice is a former Long Creek and Westminster fire fighter.
