State sells off old job centers

A state lawmaker says South Carolina has sold several buildings including the one at Seneca that were used as employment security commission offices. State Representative Bill Sandifer says claims for unemployment compensation are now handled electronically and the public libraries serve as a starting point for those without access to computers. The state building on N. Radio Station Road, Seneca that once handled walk-up unemployment applications was sold to a company in Clemson and, in recent weeks, the building re-opened as a physical therapy business, according to 96.3/WGOG NEWS sources. According to records kept by the office of the Oconee Register of Deeds, a limited liability group BLG Mason bought the Radio Station Road building for $550 thousand.
