Statewide hopeful encouraged by crowd

The campaign for a hopeful for statewide office from Anderson County describes the candidate as encouraged by the response to his formal announcement for office. Gary Burgess chose Martin Luther King Day to announce his candidacy for state Superintendent of Education. And the Republican chose a former African-American school house in Anderson to make the announcement. Burgess’s campaign describes the crowd as diverse and overflowing in numbers.
