Stats show Oconee avoided summer scorch

Oconeeans who awoke this morning to fall-like temperatures need no calendar to remind them that the summer of 2014 is history. Perhaps, depending on your tolerance for the heat, will determine how you viewed the summer. For those who thought things unusually comfortable, statistics bear that out. At her Walhalla station, U-S Weather Observer Barbara Wilson noted only two days—July 3 and August 23—when the high reached 95. There were no 100-degree days at Wilson’s Hickory Hollow Farm near Walhalla. All in all, Oconee was a fairly comfortable place to pass the summer months this year. Wilson wishes for everyone a pleasant fall.
