Stolen car turns up in Lake Hartwell

A car stolen yesterday morning from the parking lot of Seneca’s Wal-Mart wound up in Lake Hartwell. And sheriff’s officers believe the person who took the car deliberately drove it into the lake. The victim in the incident, a Wal-Mart employee, while on break yesterday morning, discovered the car missing. An investigation led officers to question and later charge and arrest a 36-year old Townville man, William Jarred Richardson, on charges of  grand larceny and driving under suspension third offense. Jimmy Watt, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, says Richardson was also charged with assault and battery third degree on a man who told officers he saw Richardson drive the car into the water.
