Storm strikes Oconee

A storm rocked Oconee for a couple of hours last night and blew down trees in various locations of the county. South Carolina 183/the Pickens Highway at Snead Road was closed temporarily because of a fallen tree. An oak tree that fell on a power line caused trouble on the Picket Post Road. Still another tree was reported on the ground inside the Keowee-Ebenezer Fire District on Ashford Court. Oconee responsders went to a camp site late Saturday afternoon in the Mountain Rest area on receiving a report that seven people had been struck by lightning. According to Emergency Services, two people received minor injuries at the Cherry Hill Campgound on U-S 107. They were taken to the Oconee Medical Center.
