Streetscape bids likely in January

Seamon Whiteside’s Joe Bryant is no Ebenezer Scrooge when it comes to Christmas. Bryant told the Walhalla mayor and council last night that, though the revised plans are ready to go to bid, he’s not going to ask his fellow employees to work through the holidays. Instead, according to Bryant, contractors interested in the job of re-making Walhalla’s four-block core business area downtown are going to get the opportunity to submit bids in January. Bryant’s appearance at last night’s meeting was an opportunity for the mayor and council to once again go over the project that will now entail a two-lane Main Street, from Ann to Tugaloo, along with a median that won’t be as wide as city leaders planned earlier.
