Streetscape plan shown!

Walhalla’s Streetscape project dominated the city council’s regular November meeting, as landscape architect Clint Rigsby displayed what a four-block section of Main will resemble once the thoroughfare is reduced from four to two lanes of travel—between Ann and Tugaloo streets. “Sidewalk zone, angle parking, a back-out buffer space, 12’ travel lanes, a median in the middle,” according to Rigsby of the Seamon Whiteside design and engineer company. Last night’s presentation and discussion of Streetscape ran nearly two hours, and afterward Mayor Danny Edwards said he and the council remain excited about the project they envision will help transform the downtown into an area where passers-thru will want to stop. In the audience and taking part in the meeting was Billy Laucis, project manager for Town and Country, the general contractor for Streetscape. We’ll present an interview with Laucis later today.
