Walhalla intends to push forward with its streetscape project. At City Hall last night, Mayor Danny Edwards announced Walhalla is ready to invite companies to offer proposals for design-build work in the city’s core downtown business area. The project will include a re-make of a four-block section of Main Street and burying the overhead electric power lines. In committee meetings last night, Walhalla leaders made clear that one of their expectations of the winning company will be the company’s designation of at least one person whose tasks will include liaison duties with all affected downtown merchants. Edwards also said, at some point, Walhalla will approach banks for a rate on a loan to finance part of the work.
