Streetscape will take patience and getting used to

Work so far on Walhalla Streetscape has been confined to one side of a block, but it’s enough to suggest that patience is likely to be a virtue in getting past the project to transform the four blocks of the city’s core commercial area. “We certainly know there’s going to be inconvenience and you might have to wait a little longer,” says Tjay Bagwell, mayor pro-tem. 96.3/WGOG NEWS has been hearing from Streetscape critics. One woman used an expletive to describe what she thinks of what the city is trying to do and asked us where she can go to complain. Bagwell says he, the mayor, and the rest of council are hoping the public will see the big picture. And that is, he says, a more vibrant business area to be frequented by more shoppers and other visitors spending money.
