Student gets a “shout out” from college president

Speaking Friday in Westminster, Clemson President James Clements reserved part of his remarks from the dais to commend a local student who is studying in a field—the end result of which is to help make the world better.  The student is Andrew Helms, a junior majoring in packaging science.  Helms is part of a team and is at work on ways to identify counterfeit pharmaceuticals and in the spring will go to New Orleans to present a paper at a national conference.  Helms was not present at Friday’s luncheon.  He had a good excuse, according to Clements.  He was at work at a local drug store.
