Students back today!

Oconee public schools are back at regular time this morning—after having lost four full days last week to the ice and snow. The school board of trustees will turn its attention tonight to its options for make-up days, although there’s a bill in Columbia to give school districts the authority to forgive some of the lost days. The matter is up for discussion during tonight’s meeting. Dr. Mike Lucas, superintendent, says the district will monitor the progress of the legislation, and he hopes the Oconee board will reach a decision during its March meeting.
