Students can get glimpse of the future

Richard Blackwell this morning pronounced Clemson’s Littlejohn Coliseum ready for the 2014 Business Industry Showcase. It’s an event where thousands of students from Oconee, Anderson and Pickens can see examples of what the future holds for some local, high-paying jobs in fields such as welding and mechatronics. As executive director of the Oconee Economic Alliance, economic development is Blackwell’s business. David Bowers, chairman for the Anderson-Oconee-Pickens Business and Industry Board, says the two-day event should help young people in the tri-counties understand the decisions that they need to make now in order to thrive later in their careers. One of this year’s features is the chance for 150 of the most career-ready high school seniors to meet with participating industries.
