Student’s death top priority for Sheriff’s Office

Oconee sheriff’s officers are indicating there is a balancing act underway to determine what happened to Clemson student Tucker Hipps and to release information to the media and public anxious to know what happened. Captain Greg Reed of the Sheriff’s Office said, “However, finding out what happened to Tucker for his family and preserving the integrity of our investigation has been and still remains our top priority.” In recent days, media questions have centered on a Sheriff Mike Crenshaw’s comment in which he was quoted as saying the chances to solve Hipps’ death are slim. Before that an announcement by Circuit Solicitor Chrissy Adams categorized the investigation at a standstill. The student’s death remains an active and ongoing investigation, though it has been transferred to Dean Brown, unsolved case investigator for the Sheriff’s Office.
