Students hold read-a-thon

A recent book-reading event served a dual purpose at Keowee Elementary School. The school’s Student Service Learning Club took part in a read-a-thon and used the event to raise $588 dollars for the Oconee Humane Society. Three grateful volunteers from the Humane Society reciprocated by showing off and demonstrating to the students a pair of trained therapy dogs—as a way to demonstrate safety around strange dogs and how to love and respect animals.
