Sunday sales vote requested

A restaurant developer, on behalf of the Oconee Chamber of Commerce, formally requested space on this November’s ballot to let the voters decide whether Oconee will allow Sunday sales of beer and wine. Dick Cottingham said Sunday sales was overwhelmingly approved by Seneca voters and is now permitted in more than 30 of South Carolina’s 46 counties. According to Cottingham, it would be a decision for the voters to make. At least one voter registered his immediate opposition. Berry Nichols described drinking as a personal issue with him.
