Superintendent’s package nears $175K

Oconee school trustees continue to like the job done by their county superintendent of education. They’ve extended the contract employment of Dr. Michael Lucas one additional year and raised his salary by two percent. Board Chairman Andy Inabinet told 96.3/WGOG NEWS this morning Lucas’s base salary is approximately $149,300, but his total package—counting annuities—approximates $175 thousand. The board of trustees evaluation of their appointed superintendent met or exceeded expectations in seven categories, including student achievement and instruction leadership.
