Suspect remains jailed

A 32-year old woman who now faces charges from two Walhalla area crimes this winter remained in jail today, with bond set at $70 thousand surety. According to the Oconee Sheriff’s Office, the latest charges against April Michelle Norton arise from the following theft, as outlined by Sheriff’s Office spokesman Jimmy Watt. According to Watt, Norton has been charged with grand larceny and first degree burglary January 28 on Corey Road near the Coffee Road. And, Watt said, Norton is accused in warrants March 14 of taking a diamond ring, a video camera, a telephone SIM card, and a checkbook from a location on Wades Drive near Walhalla.
