Suspected shoplifting turns into drug case

Two Oconee County women ran into trouble with the law in Toccoa, Georgia when a case of suspected shoplifting turned into a drug investigation by the police. The Toccoa Police Department responded Tuesday to a shoplifting complaint at the Wal-Mart store. The police arrested Kristin Hope Carter, 20-year old Westminster resident; and Tabatha Nell Pitch, 27-year old Seneca resident, on charges of shoplifting and trafficking methamphetamine. Police Chief Tim Jarrell says his officers seized nearly $1 thousand cash, an SUV, and confiscated nearly 6.25 ounces of suspected methamphetamine.
