Suspicious incident at Ravenel Elementary

At one point today, Ravenel Elementary School was placed on a code red—meaning a situation of imminent danger.  State troopers tried to stop a vehicle for speeding and, according to information received by county dispatchers, a gray Dodge Neon entered the school driveway, and the driver got out and ran.  He appeared to be in his early 20s and wore gray sweatpants and a sweatshirt.  For the safety of students and nearby residents, deputies swept the area to try to the find the suspect.  Later the school alert was reduced to a code yellow—signifying moderate potential danger.  According to the Sheriff’s Office, no public action is required.
