Takin’ it to the street!

For street events, such as Seneca’s Jazz on the Alley, patrons of permitted bars and restaurants may enjoy beer and wine at tables set up in Ramcat Alley. The question arises whether a patron, with a glass of liquor in his hand, may do the same. The Seneca city attorney is not sure. Though the city council last night gave preliminary approval to changing its open container law, the approval hinges on what the state police say. City Attorney Michael Smith said he has yet been able to reach the right person within the state Law Enforcement Division, but will and report back to council before second and final reading of the change is voted.
