Tax deal terminated

February 5, 2014

A fee-in-place-of-tax arrangement between Oconee County and one of its mainstay members of the industrial community is no more—the result of a first and final reading of a resolution during last night’s county council meeting. But it doesn’t mean that the manufacturer, Parkway Products, is going anywhere other than its highway 28 Bountyland location. According to Joel Thrift, council chairman, Parkway’s business remains solid. And County Attorney Tom Martin said the rescission of the FILOT is at the company’s request.
