Tech requests $45 thousand increase in budget

For its operating budget for the next government year, Tri-County Technical College is asking Oconee County to raise its share by $45 thousand and that is to reflect the cost of arming Tech’s security guards with weapons. Dr. Ronnie Booth, college president, said today the decision that the college must arm its security guards is simply a reflection of the times we live in. By raising Oconee’s local share of Tech’s operating budget by $45 thousand, the college is requesting of the county amounts to $1,086,000. Oconee and Pickens pay identical 25% shares of Tech’s local operating budget, while Anderson pays 50%.
