Tech to shine the spotlight on politics

Tri-County Technical College invites the public to the campus this month for a chance to meet the candidates who are running for the State House from Tri-County’s service area.  Wednesday, September 28 event will be a “Pizza & Politics” forum from 1:20 until 2:15 pm in the Marshall Parker Auditorium at Tech’s Pendleton campus.  So far, the incumbents and challengers in attendance will be Gary Clary (R) House District 3 incumbent; Travis McCurry (L) House District 3 challenger; “Lamont” Joey Lum (L) House District 4 challenger; Jay West (R) House District 7 running unopposed; Jonathon Hill (R) House District 8 incumbent; Barbara Jo Mullis (D) House District 8 challenger; and Mary Geren (D) House District 9 challenger. They will speak about their individual platforms followed by students asking questions and discussing the issues with them. The event is sponsored by the Tri-County Association of Political Scientists and the College’s Enrichment Series Committee.  The public is invited to attend.
