The bill about to be placed in the mail

About 75 thousand tax notices will be mailed this week to Oconee property owners. Taxpayers should expect those bills to show up in mail boxes no later than Monday. The tax notices include real estate, airplanes, boats and motors, industry and business personal property. The announcement from Auditor Ken Nix states that if you do not receive a notice, to avoid penalty, it’s your responsibility to make sure taxes are paid no later than January 15, 2013. If you do not get a notice within a week after October 1, contact the auditor’s office. Online bill pay is available on the front page of the county website and other valuable info can be found by looking under the web pages for the assessor, auditor, and treasurer.
