Some time this week the Oconee County auditor hopes to have the figures with which he’ll be able to estimate this year’s Duke Energy tax bill. By far, Duke remains Oconee’s largest taxpayer. County Auditor Ken Nix will be looking for the 2012 Duke assessment as reported by the State Department of revenue. And once he has it, he’ll be able to project Duke’s 2012 county tax obligation and how many millions the utility will owe.
