The last of 12 projects makes its pitch

All 12 hopefuls for a share of Oconee sales tax money have completed their presentations. The last two submitted their requests during presentations last night to the county Capital Sales Tax Commission. The request from the South Carolina Foothills Heritage Fair, for $6.7 million, is the third largest that the sales tax commissioners have entertained. The commission also heard last night a pitch for funds for a combination recreation center-meeting room and library at Fair Play. On Thursday, March 13 the commission will invite public comments on which of the 12 projects should qualify for ballot space this November.
