Oconee County is reserving calendar space next year for the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall.  A request by the Oconee Veterans Council to fund the local exhibition was approved yesterday by the county’s Parks, Recreation and Tourism commissioners.  The dates will be November 8-13, 2017 and the spot for the traveling exhibition will be an open space near to the Blue Ridge Electric Co-operative building on U.S. 123. The exhibit, according to figures the group cited in its application, attracts from 5,000 to 7,000 visitors at each of its exhibitions. The commission granted $4,000 of the group’s $6,500 request.
