There’s money in running the streets of Seneca

A gasp or two could be heard in a Seneca meeting room when the city’s events coordinator said he’s trying to secure the Temptations as the act for this year’s Seneca Fest.  Riley Johnson, the events coordinator, said the Memorial Day weekend celebration is just one in several city events in 2016.  At a public policy chat at the Oconee Chamber of Commerce, Johnson ran down other events that are designed to attract visitors who come to Seneca and spend money.  One thousand dollars will be awarded to the fastest male and female runners in a half marathon and 5-K run Saturday, March 19.  Jazz on the Alley returns to Ramcat Alley in April.  Crusin’ on Main also returns in April, and one lucky person will win a free trip.  That free trip, Johnson said, is made possible by the death last week of a dedicated cruiser whose wish it was to raise money for cruising.  The events coordinator also announced that a club of Corvette enthusiasts from Kentucky plans to come to Seneca and display 40 of the classic sports cars for the public to see.
