“They keep the buildings clean”

Cleaning the 23 buildings for which the Oconee School District is responsible is a tiring job.  As one school custodian alluded to this week, it’s a constant battle to control germs.  At the start of their meeting Monday, county school trustees paid tribute to the 102 custodians who are on the job countywide.  Although classes recess for the summers, the custodians are on the job year-round.  Their work gets particularly stressful when construction takes place at their school.  Richard Alexander, director of facilities for the district, says that was the case this summer at four of the county’s schools.
